The meeting is aimed at neurologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, specialists in neurology, psychiatry and medical genetics
Rational
Huntington's disease is a borderline disease between neurology and psychiatry and it is a genetic disorder. However, neurologists and psychiatrists do not collaborate easily in treating patients. The diagnostic approach, information about the state of risk and genetic testing are frequently managed without proper biological competence and counseling by physicians and geneticists. The role of the psychologist, extremely important in accompanying the patient to the genetic test, is often underestimated and specific training paths for these professionals are lacking. On the other hand, even the nursing staff, faced with patients of such complexity, is often disoriented.
