What are the chances of inheriting Huntington's Disease?

Hello. Each child has a 50% chance (one in two) to inherit Huntington's Disease from the affected parent. Usually the symptoms of Huntington's disease begin to manifest around the age of 35-40, although there are also cases of juvenile or senile onset.
The only way to know for sure if the mutated gene has been transmitted to us at birth is through a genetic test, which is carried out with a blood sample. However, the genetic test (so-called predictive test) is not a simple laboratory procedure and should be approached as a journey, in which it is essential to be followed and accompanied by experienced people. It is not necessarily the case that everyone wants or is ready to 'know their future'. The choice of whether or not to carry out the test is - and must be - strictly personal.
