If I live abroad but have an Italian nationality, can I receive assistance in Italy?
We have an Italian nationality
Good morning. Our system does not provide for the exportability of welfare pensions abroad, such as disability allowances or accompanying allowances, unlike social security benefits, such as old-age or contributory pensions. Therefore, Italian nationality alone is not sufficient to receive the welfare benefit, since the actual (not only formal) residence in Italy is also necessary. So much so that the right to the benefit is lost when the stay outside the Italian territory is prolonged for more than six months, with the possibility of waiver only if the transfer is determined by proven health reasons. If you would like to provide us with more information, our legal experts will be happy to further detail the answer.
